Cornice Restoration

Cornice restoration is a specialised craft that breathes new life into the intricate details of period homes and historic properties. At Plaster Crafts, a family-run business with over 25 years of experience, exceptional skill and meticulous attention to detail are brought to every project. This service is designed to restore or replace damaged or collapsed ceilings and cornices, ensuring they blend seamlessly with existing features, preserving the authenticity and charm of your space.

With a deep understanding of traditional techniques that have remained largely unchanged for over a century, Plaster Crafts excels in restoring ornate cornices, friezes, and in-situ designs, including bespoke clay enrichments and copular curves. Long-standing relationships with architects, interior designers, and builders across Edinburgh, the Lothians, and throughout Scotland enable the creation of tailored, high-quality pieces that meet specific client needs. Whether working on prestigious properties or smaller period homes, the focus is on delivering flawless results that maintain historical integrity.

In addition to restoration, Plaster Crafts offers a specialised paint stripping service to rejuvenate cornices that have lost definition due to heavy layers of paint over time. This meticulous process reveals the original craftsmanship, restoring intricate details to their former glory. The commitment to quality ensures that restored or replaced cornices appear as if they were always part of the original design, creating a seamless and polished finish.
